If you have sagging, droopy eyelids that are obstructing your vision, you may want to considerhaving an eyelid lift. An eyelid lift or blepharoplasty is the procedure normally recommended for ptosis (droopy upper eyelids), so let’s take a closer look at how an eyelid lift can improve your vision.
What is an eyelid lift
An eyelid lift is a procedure that is done to rejuvenate the area around the eyes, and correct sagging eyelids. The eyelids often droop because there is excess skin and fat deposits in the area. These features may be due to aging, sun damage, or the effects of sun damage.
Eyelid Surgery
The operation is generally performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia with sedation. The incisions are typically made along the crease of the upper eyelid, and the surgeon will then remove any extra fat and trim away excess skin. Treatment time is about 1 hour. There may be some bruising and swelling after the procedure, and patients can resume regular activities after 10 days. Full recovery takes about one month.
Improved vision with eyelid surgery
Once the excess skin has been removed from the eyelids your field of vision will be clear and unobstructed, so vision will improve. In addition to improving your vision, an eyelid lift can also give your face a more youthful and energized appearance, as droopy eyelids make you look tired.
