Should I Get an Upper or Lower Blepharoplasty?

Should I Get an Upper or Lower Blepharoplasty?

If you would like to get rid of droopy eyelids and sagging skin around the eyes, blepharoplasty may be the best option for you.  Blepharoplasty, also known as an eyelid lift, can rejuvenate the upper and lower eyelids and brighten your overall appearance.  But should you get an upper or lower blepharoplasty.

What’s the difference between an upper and lower blepharoplasty?

Upper blepharoplasty addresses droopy upper eyelids, whereas lower blepharoplasty corrects under-eye bags and wrinkles.   Blepharoplasty can be performed as a single procedure, or both surgeries can be done simultaneously to achieve optimal enhancement.

Should I Get an Upper or Lower Blepharoplasty?

The decision to have an upper or lower blepharoplasty will depend on your specific needs (click here to learn more).

If you need to correct sagging upper eyelid skin that is starting to cover your eyes, upper blepharoplasty may be the right procedure for you.  Upper blepharoplasty rejuvenates the eyes by removing excess skin and muscle that cause the upper eyelids to sag, and repositioning fat deposits that create puffiness (learn more).

If you would like to address puffy pouches or excess skin on the lower eyelids, lower blepharoplasty would be more appropriate for you.  This may involve an inside or outside lower eyelid lift.  The inside lower eyelid lift is done to remove or reposition fatty deposits below the eyes, while the outside lower eyelid lift eliminates excess skin.

Blepharoplasty can dramatically improve your appearance because it reduces the signs of aging around the eyes, so you will look younger and more alert.
